In the beginning, there was only chaos. The universe was a swirling vortex of yin and yang, with no land or sky in sight. From this void emerged Pangu, a giant egg that contained all life within it.
The Birth of Heaven and Earth
As Pangu lay inside his egg, he began to stir. He stretched his body upwards towards the heavens, creating the sky above him. At the same time, he pushed his body downwards towards the earth below him, forming the ground beneath his feet.
The separation of heaven and earth took 18 thousand years to complete. During this time, Pangu stood tall like a pillar between them.
