The story of the thousand Buddhas begins with a tragic love affair between two sisters, one of whom is forced to marry a man she does not love. The sister who marries the man dies shortly after their wedding day. The other sister becomes a nun and builds a temple on Mount Gold Cow in memory of her beloved sister.
As time passes, the temple becomes famous for its beauty and tranquility. People come from all over to visit it and seek enlightenment. One day, a young woman named Yujing comes to the temple seeking peace and solitude after losing her husband in battle. She stays at the temple for many years and eventually becomes its head nun.
Under Yujing's leadership, the temple flourishes even more than before. It attracts visitors from far and wide who come to see its beautiful gardens and statues of Buddha. The people who visit are impressed by Yujing's wisdom and compassion.
One day, an old man named Maoming comes to the temple seeking healing for his sick daughter-in-law. He has heard that Yujing has special powers that can cure illness.
Yujing listens carefully as Maoming tells her about his daughter-in-law's condition. She then leads him on a tour of the temples' gardens where they find several rare herbs that can help cure his daughter-in-law's illness.
Maoming is amazed by Yujing's knowledge
