Nwa the Mother of Mankind A Story from Chinese Cre
In the realm of ancient Chinese mythology, there exists a fascinating tale that speaks to the origins of humanity and the creation of our world. This story revolves around Nüwa, a powerful and compassionate goddess who is often referred to as "the mother of mankind." Her legend has been passed down through generations in China's rich cultural heritage, captivating hearts with its themes of love, sacrifice, and redemption.
The Birth of Humanity
According to this mythical account, Nüwa was born from a divine egg created by the primordial gods. She was destined for greatness; her existence marked a turning point in human history. The goddess possessed extraordinary abilities – she could create life itself – but her primary purpose was to heal and protect humankind.
Nüwa's first act upon coming into being was to repair the heavens after they were shattered by an evil monster named Chiyou. With great skill and determination, she mended the celestial bodies using five colored stones (red sandalwood for fire; cinnabar for earth; jade for metal; gold for water; and turquoise for wood). These elements would later become associated with China's Five Elements theory.
Creation Through Love
As time went on, Nüwa grew lonely due to her isolation from other deities. In search of companionship, she created humans out of yellow clay mixed with her own saliva. Each person contained within them both yin (female) and yang (male) energies – symbolizing balance in their existence.
Her most famous creations were Fu Xi (a wise man credited with introducing writing systems) and Nu Gua (a goddess revered as protector against diseases). They became her closest friends among mortals – embodying virtues such as wisdom and compassion that reflected Nüwa's own character.
Tragedy Strikes
Despite bringing joy through creation into this world via human beings like Fu Xi & Nu Gua , disaster soon struck when humans began multiplying at an alarming rate due to their reckless behavior towards nature - destroying forests & polluting rivers . As punishment , Pangu - creator god himself gave birthed two beasts : one black dragon representing death & another white tiger representing disease .
These terrifying creatures threatened not only humanity but also Heaven itself . Fearing chaos might reign supreme over all realms , Pangu ordered his 3rd child Daoyou/Chiyou who had become increasingly malevolent since being shunned by others following his destruction spree against heaven during heavenly repairs . To stop him permanently he devised an ingenious plan : have him killed by those very same monsters he'd unleashed onto Earth .
Consequently , these monstrous offspring turned against Chiyou while battling fiercely until victory finally came about when they joined forces together killing him once & forever - restoring peace between heaven & earth
A New Beginning
Afterward , Yu Shun succeeded Pangu as ruler over earthly realms ; establishing lawfulness amid chaos ensuring order prevailed amongst people while maintaining harmony between Heaven above & Earth below — creating balance within society henceforth known as 'Tian Xia' or Heavenly Realm under Man .
