Tragically, their happiness was short-lived as he died suddenly before they could be married. Overcome by grief and longing for her lost lover, Chang'e ascended to heaven where she became known as Chang'e Gongzhu (Goddess Chang'e).

In this new realm, she encountered another suitor named Xiang Yu Hou (Prince Xiang Yu), who sought her hand in marriage. Though she rejected his proposal due to her lingering affection for Zhong Liang Hou on earth below.

As centuries passed since then; however; people began telling stories about how Princess Chang'E left Prince Xiang Yu after being tricked into drinking elixir meant for immortality by him instead & fled up into moon where she stayed alone ever since .
