Xiwangmu and Change The Legend of the Moon Goddess
Introduction
In ancient Chinese mythology, there are many stories about gods and goddesses who lived in the heavens. One of these stories is about a beautiful goddess named Chang'e, who lives on the moon with her pet rabbit. But before she became a goddess, Chang'e was just an ordinary mortal woman named Chang Jiang.
The Story Begins
According to legend, Chang Jiang was once a very kind and gentle person who loved nothing more than helping others. She lived during the Han Dynasty when China was at peace under Emperor Wu's rule.
One day while out picking flowers in the forest, she stumbled upon an elixir for immortality hidden inside a peach tree. Without hesitation, she decided to drink it believing that it would grant her eternal life so that she could continue to help those in need forever.
However as soon as she consumed the elixir, she felt herself lift off into space whereupon her body transformed into that of a celestial being - now known as Xiwangmu or "Queen of Heaven" by mortals below.
The Transformation
As Xiwangmu, this former human had become one with heaven itself - gaining incredible powers over all elements including time and space! With this newfound power came new responsibilities which included protecting humanity from harm but also keeping them ignorant of their divine existence lest they become too arrogant or greedy for more than their share.
Chang'e & Her Pet Rabbit Yutu
After ascending to heaven Xiwangmu found herself alone without any companionship except for her loyal pet rabbit Yutu whom she kept with her always since he had been by her side throughout most history (as per mythological records).
Together they roamed across various realms within heavenly realm known collectively as 'the ten thousand heavens'. Their adventures were filled with danger but also great rewards like meeting other powerful deities such as Guan Yu (God Of War) or Meng Po (Goddess Of Forgetfulness).
