The Celestial Kitchen A Tale of the Moon Goddess a
In ancient China, there lived a beautiful goddess named Chang'e who was banished to the moon after she consumed an elixir of immortality.
According to legend, Chang'e was once a mortal woman who lived in the Tang Dynasty with her husband, Houyi, a skilled archer.
One day, while exploring the forest for herbs to cure his illness, Houyi discovered a magical elixir that granted eternal life.
Despite knowing its power could be misused by others, Chang'e convinced Houyi to let her taste it first; however, she accidentally drank it all when he fell asleep from exhaustion.
The Jade Emperor then decided that as punishment for breaking into heaven without permission and consuming divine elixirs meant for gods only, Chang'e would live on the moon forever with her loyal companion – a jade rabbit called Yutu or "Moon Rabbit."
