After meeting an immortal named Cao Guojiu, he became an immortal himself and took on his current form as the Iron Crutch Immortal. Han Xiangzi - The Flute-Playing Immortal
Han Xiangzi was once a Taoist priest who renounced worldly desires after falling deeply in love with his wife's sister, Zhang Boduan. He became an immortal by practicing Qigong meditation under Mount Tai's guidance from Lao Tzu himself.

Zhenji was originally born into royalty but renounced her royal life to become an ascetic nun on Mount Tai with her husband Han Zhijing.

Caoshan Shengmu started out as a beggar woman selling wine but eventually discovered she had divine powers when she found herself able to sell wine without any physical effort or time spent on it.
Her fame grew through stories about how she could grant wishes if you drank all your money away while playing cards at night with friends before drinking wine from her bottle.
